I'm a Professor of Astrophysics at [[http://astro.tsinghua.edu.cn|Tsinghua Centre for Astrophysics (THCA)]] and [[http://www.phys.tsinghua.edu.cn|Physics Department]] of [[http://www.tsinghua.edu/cn|Tsinghua University]]. My research has been focused on the structure, formation and evolution of galaxies, and the large-scale structure of the Universe. I use data from both observational experiments (particularly SDSS-IV and Subaru/PFS) and numerical simulations to understand the physical link of different classes of galaxies with the hosting dark matter halos. I've been teaching Observational Astrophysics, an astrophysical course for both graduate students and high-level undergraduates. From the fall of 2017 I have been teaching a new course, Observational Cosmology - From the Solar System to the Distant Universe, a general education course for non-major junior undergraduate students. ===== Bio-Sketch =====

Dr. Cheng Li completed his studies at University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), where he obtained his bachelor degree (2000) and PhD (2006) in Astrophysics. Then he was a postdoc, firstly at Shanghai Astronomical Observatory (SHAO, 2007) and then at Max-Planck Institute for Astrophysics (MPA, 2008-2010), before he moved back to SHAO (Sept. 2010) together with his family, as a leading research professor through the support of the 100-talent program of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). In September 2015 he moved to his current position, a full professor at the Physics Department of Tsinghua University.

  * I'm the current Chair of the Galaxies and Cosmology Commission of Chinese Astronomical Society, since 10/2014
  * I'm chairing the Data Products Committee, co-chairing the Science Committee, and serving on the Executive Committee for the SDSS-IV/MaNGA project.
