课程形式和目标:

通过学生作学术报告的形式,锻炼学生的文献阅读和英语表达能力,培养学生的批判性思维(critical thinking),发掘学生的自主研究兴趣,增进学生对天文 相关领域前沿研究的了解。

面向对象:

a)     天文 系和其他院系的天文相关专业的研究生;

b)    对天 文感兴趣的高年级本科生。

(本课程实际参与人数要显著多于系统选课人数。)

报告内容:

  • Free-topic presentations:
    • This part is similar to the Journal Club. Each student choose a topic of their own interest to study and present. The chosen topic should be of general interest, and the presentation should provide enough background information about the relevant research topic.
    • We will try to group together the talks on similar research topics.
  • Fixed-topic presentation:
    • We have prepared eight research topics for students to study, discuss, and then present. Each topic is on an outstanding issue and involves almost opposite, but nearly equally plausible, opinions.
    • For each topic, we will form a group of 2-4 students to lead the discussion. They will study the relevant papers, discuss themselves as well as with the assigned professor(s), and present results of the investigation to everyone in the class.
报 告要求

a)     报 告语言为英文;问答环节可用 中文;

b)    报 告+问题 总时长20分 钟(15+5);

c)     结 构分明:充分介绍相关研究背景(不少于5分钟),突出结论(Take-home message),要有summary slide;

d)  反馈问卷(任课老师会提前发送二维码)。

关键时间节点:

a)     提 前(至少)两周开始group discussion(并安排与相关老师的讨论)

b)    提 前(至少)一周提交报告题目

c) 提前一天发送报告ppt/pdf(确认已插入反馈问卷二 维码)

d)    (可 选)面对面讨论:每周 三上午11-12(请提前与任课教 师确认)或其他约定的时间

e)     任 课教师公布本周报告并预报下周报告:每周五上午(或之前)
